Business Banking accounts
Business banking is slightly different than personal banking. Typically, business have more money on hand and banks offer more services to them because of that. Most banks will provide the standard checking and savings accounts to businesses along with other resources such as offshore bank accounts, payroll services, invoicing, and merchant card processing.
So if you’re looking into starting a business yourself, you may have wondered where you were going to get the money to start your business. Most banks also have lending services to small business just like yours to help you get started. However, for the most part, you are going to have to give a personal guarantee on a small business loan.
With all the different Bank accounts to choose from, here’s a good place to start.
Just like your personal accounts, you will want to start with a Savings account. Did you know that the big corporations make a lot of their money from investments? It’s true, and many entrepreneur’s and small business owners do not know this. Once you have a positive cash flow for your business you can use it for growth, or you can use it for investments. If you plan on growing at a later date, that’s fine, you can save and invest it for the time being. As long as your investments appreciate over that period, you will have more money to use for your growth projects.
The money that you need currently, you can set up in your business checking account. That way you can write your checks for purchases and payroll.
Since the banks are in it for the money (pun intended), they also offer investment services as well. The money that you have saved can go towards the banks CD’s, money market account, or other investment vehicles that they offer.
The bank will also offer merchant accounts so you can collect money from your clients and handle payroll for you as well. All of these things do come at an expense, but you have to think of it as an additional employee doing these services for you. It will probably be much cheaper than hiring someone full time (or even part time for that matter).
So, if you’re thinking of starting your own business, visit a local bank in your town or city and see how they can help you and your business. They should be very knowledgeable and understand your needs as a business owner.
